Prerequisites

mongosql_auth Plugin

Download the latest mongosql_auth plugin component .msi installer and install.

MySQL Enterprise Edition ODBC Driver

This procedure requires the Enterprise edition of the MySQL ODBC driver. MySQL Enterprise uses OpenSSL, which is compatible with Atlas BI Connector for TLS/SSL connections.

Go to https://www.mysql.com/downloads/ and download the MySQL Enterprise Edition.

If you have a community edition of the driver, to install the Enterprise edition for the same driver version, you must uninstall the community edition. To uninstall, you can either:

  • Remove the driver by using the .msi for community edition.
  • Remove the driver from the Control Panel > Programs and Features screen.

Create a System DSN

1

ODBC Data Source Administrator as administrator.

Run ODBC Data Sources as an administrator, right click on the application icon and select “Run as administrator”.

Windows ODBC Data Source Administrator
2

Select the System DSN tab and click the Add button.

3

Select MySQL ODBC ANSI Driver from the list of available drivers.

The following form fields are required:

Field Name Description
Data Source Name A name of your choice.
TCP/IP Server Enter the Hostname specified in the Atlas connect dialog.
Port Enter the Port specified in the Atlas connect dialog.
User

Enter either the user specified in the Atlas connect dialog or a different MongoDB user for the cluster.

The user is specified in the format:

<username>?source=<database-name>

where the <database-name> is the authentication database for the user.

Password Enter the password corresponding to the entered User.
Database The name of the database to connect to. For example, test.
Authentication

Click the Details button to display the Authentication field.

Enter the Authentication specified in the Atlas connect dialog.

For example, populating the fields using the Atlas provided information:

ODBC driver configuration.
4

Click the Test button to test the ODBC connection.

If the connection is successful, click OK to add the DSN. If the connection fails, check the MongoDB user credentials and the IP whitelist.

Connect from Qlike Sense Desktop

1

Start Qlik Sense Desktop.

Start the Qlik Sense desktop application.

2

Create a Data Connection to the Atlas BI Connector.

  1. Click Create a New App.

  2. Enter a name for the app and Create. If created successfully, Open app.

  3. Click Add data from files and other sources.

  4. Select ODBC from the list of data sources.

  5. In the Create New Connection window, in the System DSN, select the ODBC connection for the Atlas BI Connector.

Leave the Username and Password fields blank as the application uses the username and password specified in the DSN during the ODBC set up.

  6. Click Create.
